Incoming Freshmen
All incoming freshmen are required to attend a New Student Orientation. Orientations are tailored based on academic majors and divided by colleges. Information about FYRIS will be presented at the College of Science session. Students must be considered "college ready" (e.g., placed into pre-calculus or a higher math course) in order to apply to FYRIS.
- Review the RDC Videos to determine the departmental track in which you are interested (i.e., Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Psychology, Engineering, or Sociology).
- Discuss possible FYRIS course options with FYRIS Advisor at the orientation during the advising session.
- Contact the course-specific FYRIS faculty member/s prior to the start of the academic year if there are unavoidable changes in circumstances or with any questions.
Current UTEP Students
If you are a current UTEP student, you may still apply to FYRIS as long as you have not previously received course credit in any of the RDC sections. Students must have successfully passed pre-calculus in order to apply to FYRIS SCI 1301 Course.
